We gave a couch to a neighbor, years later they found my wife's class ring!
Better than a sharp stick in the eye!

“A quarter of a million dollars is a life-changing sum for most people, and finding a Paul Newman Daytona in a thrift-store couch is easily one of the craziest stories Ive come across. When asked what she would do with her newfound fortune, the woman replied that she would buy a house and get a boob job.

Man, what a find, holy cow. I wish my Daytona was worth that much, but it has doubled in value sinc I bought it.

(The above is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion or satire. Or both.)
To: Mariner
I hope she buys the house first.

How did the watch get in her couch? Did she buy the couch second hand used? Did someone visiting her drop it in the cushions?

Doesn’t Canadian socialized medicine cover breast enhancements? It seems the boob prime minister would’ve run on such a platform.

buy a house and get a boob job.
This may explain why she buys her furniture at thrift stores.

Why isnt this woman trying to find the watchs rightful owner?when her first thought is getting a boob job I suspect she's some sort of a dirt bag. Maybe it was one of her customers.

The article says she bought it at a thrift store 4 years prior.
She contacted the thrift store and they have no record or the sale, nor the previous owner.
It’s most certainly hers now. She bought it.
Cheap.

Hi.
In the fwiw department, all Rolex watches are registered.
Call Rolex for the owner’s name and address.

Uh... If Dad is 92, she's gotta be close to 60.
So.....skip the boob job.....

Yep. I would say finders keepers in this case. Still, she should have been quieter about finding it.

She tried but, learned there was no record of the person who donated the couch.

Try reading the article.
I know. That’s a crazy idea.
To: BenLurkin
If it’s her couch she probably is the rightful owner. If she bought the couch second hand, arguably the watch is hers. I can just see the original owners’ heirs looking at each other and thinking, “That’s where grandpa’s Rolex went!” Grandpa having died in 1983, and they sold off the estate, while looking through every cabinet and drawer for the missing heirloom.
I wonder if “grandpa” left it to anyone in his will. “To my thankless nephew Carl, I bequeath my priceless heirloom Rolex, if the little snot can ever get his lazy ass off my couch and go find it.”
To: DUMBGRUNT
I was helping a friend get rid of an overstuffed chair and checked inside for change. Pulled out his wife’s “toy” instead. She snatched it and ran out of the room.
