She plans to "buy house and get a boob job" with her new found fortune.
. A few months back, I received a call from a woman in Canada about a watch she wanted to sell. As she tells it, she was sitting on the couch one day when she dropped her phone. She stuck her hands in between the cushions to retrieve it, but instead of her phone, she pulled out a watch. Upon closer inspection, she saw that it was a Rolex.
Rolex produced the manually wound Daytona ref. 6241 from 1966 to 1969, roughly. During this short three-year period, fewer than 3,000 pieces of the 6241 were made and just a small percentage of those were fitted with the exotic dial (that would later be nicknamed the Paul Newman dial). As with all collectibles, rarity and market popularity are golden attributes when dealing with vintage timepiecesand the Paul Newman Daytona 6241 boasts a combination of both.
And the watch was indeed a genuine vintage Rolex Daytona 6241 Paul Newman, worth north of $250,000.

“A quarter of a million dollars is a life-changing sum for most people, and finding a Paul Newman Daytona in a thrift-store couch is easily one of the craziest stories Ive come across. When asked what she would do with her newfound fortune, the woman replied that she would buy a house and get a boob job.
Man, what a find, holy cow. I wish my Daytona was worth that much, but it has doubled in value sinc I bought it.
Why isnt this woman trying to find the watch’s rightful owner?
I hope she buys the house first.
Doesn’t Canadian socialized medicine cover breast enhancements? It seems the boob prime minister would’ve run on such a platform.
buy a house and get a boob job.
when her first thought is getting a boob job I suspect she's some sort of a dirt bag. Maybe it was one of her customers.
The article says she bought it at a thrift store 4 years prior.
She contacted the thrift store and they have no record or the sale, nor the previous owner.
It’s most certainly hers now. She bought it.
Cheap.
Hi.
In the fwiw department, all Rolex watches are registered.
Call Rolex for the owner’s name and address.

So.....skip the boob job.....
All these years I have been wondering where that watch went.
Get the boob job first and she can find a guy to buy her the house..... :^)
Yep. I would say finders keepers in this case. Still, she should have been quieter about finding it.
She tried but, learned there was no record of the person who donated the couch.

I know. That’s a crazy idea.
If it’s her couch she probably is the rightful owner. If she bought the couch second hand, arguably the watch is hers. I can just see the original owners’ heirs looking at each other and thinking, “That’s where grandpa’s Rolex went!” Grandpa having died in 1983, and they sold off the estate, while looking through every cabinet and drawer for the missing heirloom.
I wonder if “grandpa” left it to anyone in his will. “To my thankless nephew Carl, I bequeath my priceless heirloom Rolex, if the little snot can ever get his lazy ass off my couch and go find it.”
I was helping a friend get rid of an overstuffed chair and checked inside for change. Pulled out his wife’s “toy” instead. She snatched it and ran out of the room.
