I even went so far as to delete the ‘People’ app, since Windows Help told me it was really my ‘contact’ list.
Didn’t help! the contacts still showed up even after deletion!.....................

I have used Thunderbird for years, which works pretty good. But if your problem is that you cannot delete a file, you can install Unlocker which will add a right click option for you to delete or rename files. run as Administrator if needed.
