I didn’t say she was innocent - but in this country the state is supposed to present evidence to prove the charge.

If 2nd degree murder is defined as presented here (that it’s killing without malice/premeditated intent - which is basically akin to aggravated manslaughter) then I’m in agreement with the verdict.

Does that have something to do with her portrayed trial image?

Nope. Just with shooting a man dead in his home for no reason with zero warning, when he was minding his own business eating ice cream. And not following police protocol (backup) ; and not rendering first aid; and playing (in her own mind) the "I'm a COP!" and "I'm a GURL!" card.

What did the public know about her

Like she was a woman who screwed married fellow cops?

Or did she have damaging social media stuff out there?

I have little symapthy for someone who killed another person, then, along with their married cop boyfriend, tampered with evidence.

From what I could understand she didn’t do anything to help the victim, but she could text her married boyfriend?

All that matters is what the jury knew about her.

Actually the Texas Rangers - you know, the people who did the actual investigation for the prosecution.

You have your opinion and I have mine about the “justness” of this conviction.

The jury is drawn from the public.

There was enormous pre trial publicity

The Sgt Ranger's testimony was a black eye for the entire organization.

Seems appropriate.

Still don’t understand the motive.

If you ask me it was the videos at the crim scene that did her in. She’s texting her boyfriend, crying on the phone in the hallway and the whole time the victim is dying bleeding in his apartment all alone. She only cared about herself which is pretty common with young women today I’m afraid. Her act on the stand also was hard to buy. She should never have been a police officer.

If I was on the jury I would also have found her guilty. But that's only because she is guilty.

Did I say she had a right to just enter into an apartment with a defective lock? Please show me where I made this statement.

If you mistakenly walk up to the wrong door (thinking it is your door) and find “your” door ajar, would you enter to see who is in “your” apartment or would you stop to see if your key fit the lock on “your” door?

I think she did enter the wrong apartment and thought there was an intruder. No one wants to say these things today but she was all of 5’1” and weighed 120 pounds. Way too small in my opinion to be a police officer. She used her only equalizer at her disposal to quell a threat.

I think it was manslaughter. But the jury has spoken. So be it.
