Sometimes stupid does hurt.
(I was there a few weeks ago. Do that, you will.)
When do they announce that alcohol or drugs were involved? The hot springs at Yellowstone DO NOT have lights. Once you get away from the campgrounds, you can see the Milky Way...
“I told you it was hot”
Had a friend with to a drive in and ordered coffee. Car hop comes out and says the coffee is hot. She proceeds to hand it into the car but she lets go of it before he has a good grip on it, and it pours into his lap.
He jumps out of the car, burning alive, and drops his pants.
She says, “I told you it was hot.”
Hope he’s okay.

A park full of hot springs, wolves, bears, and bison and he wants to walk around there late at night without anything but the stars to guide him? Was he up drinking or smoking with a scarecrow and a cowardly lion?
He must have been drunk to be walking aimlessly AT NIGHT around live, open air geysers.
No word on how he got out of that geyser and who called for help.
“...you can see the Milky Way...”
One of the things on my bucket list is to again see the Milky Way.
The famous geyser is Old Faithful, for those who do not want to follow the link.
Heh...what could go wrong?
They were looking for the piping system used by the Park to make sure Old Faithful “erupts” on schedule.

Some people just have a suicide wish.
Old faithful is roped off. I was just there. There are not any puddles around the mound.

This is why there are seemingly obvious warnings on things like toasters that warn you not to operate them while in a bathtub, or some such. Because somewhere, someone did just that.
It could have happened to anyone. I hope he comes out ok.
At least he wasn’t the perennial stupid environut who gets gored while petting a buffalo.

He was lit without a light.
I take that back since I just read that he was walking in the middle of the night off of a trail. Yeesh. I suspect that his plans for the next day was to go and let a buffalo.
Another way to see it at a National Park is to reserve a cabin for a few nights when there is a New Moon on the higher North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Star watchers from all over the country keep it fully rented each summer for the view at altitude.
