Impeachment is just the trial. Conviction and removal from office would prevent him from holding future office.

Clinton was impeached; he ran for public office after that — and he won.
Not true. Impeachment is within the purview of the House of Representatives. It is equivalent to an indictment. Then the Senate tries the individual. If the individual is convicted, THEN the person becomes ineligible to hold federal offices. If not convicted by the Senate, then there is no penalty.
Oh no you don’t! Only if he is CONVICTED by the Senate is he removed and inelligible to hold another office. He’ll never be convicted.
