Hasn’t Trump talked about Andrew Johnson too? They failed to convict him by one vote too... but he was only in one term so that point is mute.
Still might be worth digging into a little, not entirely convinced that because Bill did not try it, it’s not true, there may be some hidden rule or precedent somewhere? I doubt it is specifically in the constitution from comments I read on the thread and he has not replied to how he reads it that way...
