Reached for comment, Allred declined to provide an on-the-record answer as to whether the move had anything to do with recent accusations her firm pushed a client into a hush-hush settlement with Harvey Weinstein.
“The Rules of Professional Responsibility preclude me from disclosing the reason for my withdrawal as counsel for this particular Jane Doe,” she wrote in an email.
Allred has faced criticism following the release of a new book by two New York Times reporters, who claimed she’s used secret settlements to help silence multiple women who’ve accused powerful men, including Bill O’Reilly and Larry Nassar, of sexual assault.
