James South is about to hit a big milestone in his life and he's hoping others can help him celebrate by mailing him a birthday card. South turns 100 on October 7 and his birthday wish is to receive 100 cards. It's a wish his assisted living home is trying to make come true.
Brookdale Senior Living in Watauga, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth, posted an image of South with a sign on Facebook on Friday.
"Hello! My name is James South and I am a proud World War II Veteran! I will be turning 100 on October 7th, 2019 and I would like to receive 100 birthday cards," the sign reads.

100? He’ll be getting thousands. I’ll bet Trump sends him one.
I ould bet he will receive enough cards to give a hundred to everyone else where he lives. God bless this man and his service to humanity.
What was supposed to be learned?
He lives in a nursing home and they are helping to get the word out.
I sent him a card. I know the source is CNN, but he seems legit.
Thanks for posting. This has been a hobby for the last couple of years, I usually do an internet search for news articles.
There was another instance over twenty years ago, when someone asked for birthday cards and got so many, it ended up in the Guinness book of world records. People have been copying the idea ever since.
But I think this is real.

I just had to go buy my granddaughter a birthday card, so I got him one too and mailed it.

If we all added a $buck or two, he will eat steak for a long time.
Mailing one tomorrow.
I hope he gets thousands.

I am a veteran of the USMC turning 80 in a few days, 80 checks for a million each would sure help out!
Card will be mailed tomorrow. Thanked him for his service to our precious country.
That this request can get out of control and waste a lot of time and money. The post office was flooded with millions of cards. He had to repeatedly ask the public to stop sending them.
And I kept writing back, "Okay!"
