Apple just announced that they have released iOS 13 for iPhone and iPod Touch (Generation Seven). There is a LOT in the new upgrade. Take a look. This iOS release is not for the iPad, as next week they will be releasing the completely new iPadOS.

Everything Swordmaker said to you in #52 is right on! I think you probably don’t understand the ease and quickness of how FaceID works or you’d not have made this statement. The new technology is great. You don’t know what you don’t know, I always think when I read these threads.

Since the days of 286sx computers, the economic rule for the smart electronics consumer has been, always buy a generation (or more) behind. Let someone else pay for the latest and greatest. In one year when it’s no longer the latest it will work just as fine as it does now for a lot less.

When my brother bought one of the first 486sx 25 to come out, I bought a suddenly “old” 386dx 40 for less than 1/2 of what he paid. For all practical, real world purposes my “older” DX was essentially as fast as his new SX.

With wearing trifocals and hearing aids, all the woowoo about increased video, increased “camera” (where is the camera body and lenses) capability, and the latest in sound technology don’t mean sqiat!!! Now, with this “5G” stuff that is all the conytroversy, I will gladly wait, with my android outdoors ready old phone!!!

I go back to the early days of the PC revolution. Back then, the machine you wanted always cost about $3000 (in 1980s dollars!), and you really needed to upgrade about every 3 years.

And that was for a cheap PC. Me and my friends were buying machines costing $3000 to $8000 in the early 1980s, that quickly became obsolete. I spent $3000 on a PC that was considered fast at the time, 6MHz with a speed option to 8MHz. Within two years it was junk. Sigh... I appreciate the relative cheap prices now that are under $3000 but thousands of times more powerful .

But we've been told that Apple will drop i Phone 5s from their technical support and eventually we will have to buy upgraded ones.

My wife and I upgraded our iPhone 5s devices to iPhone 7 devices recently, because our TracFone carrier told us the 5s won't work with the newer telecom systems coming out soon. We upgraded via TracFone to brand new iPhone 7 devices somewhere between $200 to $250 each.

So where do these rejected phones go? Into the landfill. With all their plastic, lithium ion batteries and all.

Therefore, it really is unethical to upgrade when not absolutely necessary. My 5 year old plus phone works just great. HTC. Great phone.

Android users: use battery doctor , clean master and Ccleaner. Run battery doctor every time you use the phone. It only takes 20 seconds.

Call me.

To: alternatives?

Does he imagine they’re built to order? That if he doesn’t buy one, that’s one fewer that will be made?

I’ve been using my 7 Plus for the last few years.

It’s beat up but I wasn’t interested in buying a new one until the sound quality eroded.
