Hillsdale College, a premier conservative Christian college in southern Michigan, has launched a graduate school of government in Washington, D.C. The college announced the new school on Constitution Day.
"Today, the connection between liberty and learning is widely forgotten, and their mutual support has grown tenuous," Larry P. Arnn, president of Hillsdale, said in a statement. "Repairing the breach is a task both urgent and noble."
The Steve and Amy Van Andel Graduate School of Government offers a Master of Arts in Government, combining the study of political thought, American founding principles, and statesmanship, the college explained.
"Our students will study politics as a human activity oriented toward justicea series of choices that require prudence to achieve the best attainable results," Matthew Spalding, the new dean of the Steve and Amy Van Andel Graduate School of Government, said in a statement. "Only by knowing the good for which we aim can we then know where we are, what to do, and how to do it."
Located on Capitol Hill, the program aims to equip students to bring the principles and practices they will study to their work in government, law, media, and non-profits. Local Hillsdale faculty such as Matthew Spalding, Matthew Mehan, and Michael Anton will teach alongside others from Hillsdale's main campus, such as Arnn, Ronald J. Pestritto, and Paul Rahe.
The graduate degree will require a total of 36 credit hours in three core areas: political thought and culture, American politics, and statecraft. Classes will be held on evenings and weekends during fall, spring, and summer semesters. Significant scholarships, including up to full tuition, are available. The program has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and licensed to operate in Washington, D.C. by the Higher Education Licensure Commission.

I kind of wish my daughter could have spent some tie at Hilldale. She is in pre-med school now. Glad she is taking something of real value, but even as a pre-med, the university has its share of crap-liberal leaning courses that are required for graduation.
I have taken a few of Hillsdale’s online govt/history courses and think they should be mandatory teaching for all Juniors or seniors in high school.
I wish they would do a model charter school for pre and high school so that parents can pull their kids out of the indoctrination centers.
Now that is some great news!
Good. The clowns in that town could use a REAL education.
I don’t like it.
The Swamp tends to corrupt and pollute everything that it touches.
Never attended Hillsdale College but I lived in Hillsdale, Michigan for a time when I was younger. Beautiful place!
I look forward to getting my Imprimis in the mail each month.
Rush and Levin have had Hillsdale commercials on the radio shows for it must be at least 30 years now and I dont know of any other college where they just teach conservative constitutionalist civics
which is interesting but the fact is who the hell wants to go to Michigan with those winters and Detroit lurking nearby
so I think putting if youre going to focus on politics to put their grad school in the swamp is a brilliant move
Somebody has to teach conservative constitutionalist civics and constitutional law to the populace
RE: I dont know of any other college where they just teach conservative constitutionalist civics
Grove City College.
Grove City and Hillsdale are two colleges I know that REFUSE to accept Federal government aid, not wanting the Feds to impose their values on their schools.
Nice, but I hope Hillsdale won’t get corrupted by the swamp...
Is there a need for a graduate school? Online courses should count as H.S. credit for young folks. Graduate mid-term or a whole year early. Counselors were against leaving early for their own selfish reasons.
"...experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms (of government), those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny; and it is believed that the most effectual means of preventing this would be, to illuminate...the minds of the people...to give them knowledge of those facts, which history exhibiteth. History, by apprizing them of the past, will enable them to judge of the future...it will qualify them judges of the actions and designs of men; it will enable them to know ambition under every disguise it may assume; and knowing it, to defeat its views.."Education was not perceived by the Founders to be a mere process for teaching basic skills. It was much, much more. Education included the very process by which the people of America would understand and be able to preserve their liberty and secure their Creator-endowed rights. Understanding the nature and origin of their rights and the means of preserving them, the people would be capable of self government, for they would recognize any threats to liberty and "nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud." (Adams)
They should offer an online degree.
They do offer many online courses, some for credit, many for free.
