Everyone wants their own channel. Some shows I could watch for free from Amazon Prime now have to have a subscription from places like Britbox or Acorn TV
I wanted to watch old Maigret shows in French but you have to subscribe to a channel. So I just watch them through free Hoopla.
The trend is going to backfire. Once people can’t just subscribe to one or two streaming services to get most of the stuff they want to watch, they will just bootleg the shows instead.
When getting the content 100% for free is so easy, the only reason most people are going to pay for it is if it is more convenient. Splitting all the content into 100 streaming services that all want you to pay separately is the opposite of convenient.
