You know if you think about it that REALLY SUCKS.

Getting maimed or killed so others’ lives could be freer and better.

People don’t really take the time, REALLY take the time to think about what was given up in many instances.

Their ONE LIFE on this planet!! All of their dreams and hopes, families they had or wanted to have, things they enjoyed...all gone in an instant and forever.

It IS an insult to forget them or take them for granted.

Like too many do.

I agree.

On the flip side, however, I try to avoid going out in public in my uniform. 99% of the time, someone thanks me for my service. A little girl once came up to me and thanked me. Honestly, this makes me feel awkward. I work in an office and stare at a computer all day. I did deploy once, to Korea, which is a fairly quiet war zone. My work is important, even life-saving, but I have never truly risked my own life. So being thanked for everything I do just feels awkward.
