Well today I finally got around to reassessing my newspaper needs.
My state paper, The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette as of next month goes total digital. So I now have to get used to reading the paper on the IPad.
With that coming I decided to reevaluate the other papers I take. I get The Wall Street Journal and USA Today.
Well for awhile I just have not been reading the other papers much. USA Today used to be a fun paper to read and I had read it from the very beginning, but it changed it's format, got skinnier and become way too Leftist. So it has to go.
The Journal I have read for over 45 years and since Murdoch bought the paper it's gotten Leftist and such and I just hate reading it anymore. I like the weekend edition and their review section is pretty good so I am going to keep that and let the weekday edition go.
The Journal hasn't been very good since Robert Bartley was the editior and John Fund used have a column. So farewell.
I may try Investors Business Daily or the digital edition of The Financial Times.
At least I am going to save a great deal of money now, at least $700 a year, and that I like.
I also gave up on Forbes' Magazine a ways back, it had gotten stale and just not as good as it was as when Malcom Forbes was running it. I don't miss it either and I hate Fortune and I won't take it.
In this case, those get collected and almost never used.
I stopped reading newspapers when the internet came out. In my condo community I only see two people taking the Atlanta paper when I make my morning walks.
Well I finally got around today of doing something about it. The thing I hate the most is in this day and age you still have to call to cancel or change things rather than being able to do it over the computer.
I still subscribe to The Wall Street Journal. Its the only paper I can stomach at all - and they try my patience with their apolitical idealism. You know, criticizing Trump as if there were a better candidate in the offing, who could be relied on to win the presidency. In the real world, its Trump (whatever warts you may object to, and all) or a socialist.
Never Trumpers would would have had us under Hillarys thumb, and would have taken SCOTUS over to the dark side. Certainly for the remainder of my lifetime, probably for much longer than that.
