One of my absolute favorite bands. Sadly no longer together. Saw them live once - have seen a lot of concerts and theirs was top shelf, really amazing. I think it was CBS that did a documentary about them years ago.

It's close enough (to Bluegrass) for me.
BTW, I love covers when they are done in a different style than the original. There's a podcast called "Coverville" that is quite good at showcasing the better covers out there. Almost 1300 episodes have been done of that show and I've heard every single one of them.

Between them and “Leonid and Friends” Russia has the best cover bands.

That is “country” music, but it’s definitely not bluegrass. They have cleverly called it “redgrass.”

It's close enough (to Bluegrass) for me.Who died and made you boss? That's like calling people who can drive "auto mechanics."

Not sure who died to make me boss but I'm the boss!
Just remember that.

Keep in mind they are doing a cover of a rock song, see my post #10.

The “Bearing Straight” by Bering Strait video you linked to at #12 is closest to bluegrass; but the number they open with on 60 Minutes is also country, not bluegrass; and their wikipedia page says they are a country music band, not bluegrass. So it seems they are a crossover band, sort of like the Rolling Stones doing Mississippi Delta blues for most of their career, but nobody calls the Stones a Delta Blues band. Not to put too fine a point on it; but bluegrass runs in my family. :-)
