Ric Ocasek, founding member and lead singer of The Cars, has died in New York City, the NYPD confirms.
He was found unresponsive at his East 19th Street residence in Manhattan and pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

He wasn‘t THAT old. Hell, Joe Biden is older than that - in mind and character - but any of us who can recall the intro the „Let the Good Times Roll“ and how groundbreaking their debut album was, is still 15, 18, or 21 in their minds perspective.

I beg to differ.
I’ll be 21 for a few more decades at least. Ric Okasek’s music helped keep me young beyond my years.
Yeah, I remember when she did an interview on Stern and he said the same thing.
Great stuff! And I might add that I do not like 80’s music, buttttt, there were some great ones that I had to make an exception.
I admired Ric for one thing... If a guy, who looked like him could get a girl, who looked like Paulina Porzikovia, and guys, who looked like Billy Joel could get a girl, who looked like Christie Brinkley, I thought that maybe, just maybe there was the tiniest bit of hope for the rest of us. :P
Amazing what a few million can do for a guys looks. Okasik, Steven Tyler, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger and Ronnie Woods would be paying for hookers if not for music.
You had to be a singer though!

2019 has not been the best of years for me for personal reasons. Luckily, not health related but just an avalanche of bad news. Part of my escape was music since it brought me back to happier times. This puts a dent in it.
This saddens me. I’m sorry to hear it. It doesn’t seem possible that he was in his 70’s

The best thing about the first album is the sequence of the songs and how they just flowed from one to the next, Side Two is like one long song.
Yep, very different in appearance but uncannily similar voices.
