Please look for and post YOUR local, teenage radio station.
ID it (and you) with dates .... I was 13 in 1961.

WIOT 104.7, Toledo, back when they were good, in the 70’s. Classic rock before it was classic...

I was in conversation last night with other seasoned citizens and a general element to our conversation was, WE didn't have negative musical influences in our pre and teen years and maybe THAT'S how we ended up conservative and patriotic.
I went looking on youtube for MY teen years on a local radio staion and I found the clip I posted.
Here's Wolfman Jack (early 60's?)"

WKBW Buffalo. Especially Tommy Shannon Show in the ‘60s.
I had to sneak listening to it. Rock ‘n’ roll was a no-no in our house (parsonage).

Growing up in Syracuse, my favorite was 1260 WNDR, which still exists but with a different format.
My parents bought me a transistor radio when I was in forth grade (sometime in 1964), and it became to me what the internet is today: my window on a gigantic world.
Once, during the Lou Christie song Lightnin' Strikes, there was an actual flash of lighting. This was while I had the radio under my pillow, while going to sleep at night.
I was amazed when, while taking the song out, the DJ said "I saw some actual lighting there!" I didn't know where the radio station actually was as a child, and in that moment realized that it might actually be nearby.

I was a teen in the 50’s, that music caused a lot of early marriages. No wonder, it lead to so many boomers conceived in 57 Chevy s. Cousin Brucey!
To: knarf
Heard them all...at the time they were originally aired! KDTH in Dubuque is still playing them!

KQRS 92 in Minnesota was blaring The Who, Creedence Clearwater, Jim Morrison, and Queen back when I grew up in the late 70s and early 80s.
40 years later and they are still playing the same songs 24/7.

I think it also planted some good, old fashioned American seeds as well.
THAT was where our coversation went last night

Wow! I don’t believe that! Very good!
I made many hours of reel-to-reel tape recordings of local radio stations, but they’re all lost, undoubtedly thrown out by my parents when I moved away from home.
