When my youngest was 9 or 10 years old he took a Japanese language class at his school, about 20 years ago. The teacher was a 20 something woman from Japan and one day brought up Hiroshima and said the United States was wrong to have done that.
My son called out, “Japan should have never bombed us first”.
Teacher dropped the topic.
My father was back home on leave, expecting to be shipped to the Pacific Theater as an engineer. He was hitch-hiking back to California and was somewhere in Wyoming when the car radio of the vehicle he was riding in reported the first atomic bomb dropped.
He spent the next 8 months or so in California “doing nothing” in his own words, before being discharged in ‘46. I’m pretty sure I would not be here if it weren’t for the dropping of the Atomic Bombs.
“Do you have a source for this incident?”
Geez, an old now retired Kodak engineer told me about it 5 or 6 years ago, I’ll have to ask him about it.

Thank you DUMBGRUNT.
Thank’s for the link.
I never asked my friend from Kodak how he knew about it. I just assumed it to be true, because he was there.
At my dad’s funeral, I learned that he had been in boot camp when Japan surrendered. I learned this from a man he had grown up with and had to boot camp with. I told the gentleman that they must have been relieved to hear about the surrender. “You just don’t know!” he said. “We knew where we were going to be sent!” Instead of going to Japan to fight, the two of them went to Germany after the war.
Daddy never mentioned it to me, but my brother told me not long ago that Daddy once told him that he was thankful for the nuclear bombs, because if they had not been dropped he would have had to go to Japan and would probably have died there.
And, as you say, lots of us would have never been born.
true, although it can be argued that those super high frequency waves can bounce around. I will argue that the fact that those frequencies produced by the Sun and stars are mitigated by our atmosphere and barely reach the Earth, makes it highly unlikely that any of those high intensity waves produced by the atom bomb tests could be effective 2000 miles away traversing the round Earth. But I could be wrong ;-)
Thanks loads for that report. In addition to that info was the Japs were building super submarines capable of being aircraft carriers. This was revealed in a book review brought up by John Batchelor in his late night talk show. If were not for the intercession of the emperor who foresaw the further destruction of the country including losses to Russia The attempted coup d’etat failed
