This is one of our local beaches and I will try to find out what sharks were involved like whites and/ or bluesharks.
This will give our local surfers something to think about.
White sharks are in our area well into October, I have first hand knowledge of this. - Tom

Scituate town officials disposed of the carcass Tuesday morning. I hear that dynamite does the trick. [/slinking away]

This is why I think live bait used for fishing is so cruel...
It promotes that killer instinct in many different species of fish that would otherwise be great in my Aquarium.......if only they could all "just get along"...../s

No evidence of fishing gear. May have run afoul of underwater power lines.
I told them not to run the power lines underwater, ‘don’t you know you’re going shock the minke?’

Check out
Pico, he was tagged about 18 mos ago in my neighborhood. (Texas Gulf Coast)
There's sure something drawing the sharks. Maybe you've a serial killer mixing menhaden oil in the suntan lotion.

Do you remember the Scituate Sea Monster that washed up on Mann Hill Beach in November 1970?

A native Bostonian, I was at that beach when a little boy ... 6, or 7.
I remember whip grass cutting our ankles, a coolish strong breeze and ice cold water.
I don't remember having any fun.

Do you remember the Scituate Sea Monster that washed up on Mann Hill Beach in November 1970? I remember the conclusion being it was a deteriorated basking shark that had washed ashore.
No shortage of "baskers" in this area. -Tom

I don't remember having any fun. Us New Englanders go to the beach for the SUN,SAND AND SEA.
We take an umbrella to avoid the sun, a blanket to keep us off the sand, and we don't spend much time in the cold water.
Otherwise we enjoy day at the beach. - Tom
