PA native Bostonian, I was at that beach when a little boy ... 6, or 7.
I remember whip grass cutting our ankles, a coolish strong breeze and ice cold water.
I don't remember having any fun.

Us New Englanders go to the beach for the SUN,SAND AND SEA.

We take an umbrella to avoid the sun, a blanket to keep us off the sand, and we don't spend much time in the cold water.
Otherwise we enjoy day at the beach. - Tom

Fishin' from a little dingy and meeting other vacay girls on the beach at night.
