As if Baltimore doesnt have enough problems on its hands, it seems that theyve still been unable to get the epidemic of squeegee kids under control. In case youre not familiar with this phenomenon, gangs of younger people (not all of whom are actually children by the way) show up at city intersections with traffic lights carrying buckets of presumably soapy water and squeegees. The deal is that if they run up to a stopped car that is trapped in traffic at the light and wash the windshield, they expect the driver to give them money.

Anybody Freepers from Baltimore area? Have the squeegees taken over the approaches to the Inner Harbor area?
This is why I carry in my car. This is also why I avoid driving in a lot of cities. But I confess that though I’ve driven in every state except five on the east coast, I’ve never had this happen.
Once in Texas a dude stated approaching my car. Told him he better not. He still came. I opened the door and started to step out. He backtracked very quickly!
I’m old enough to remember when gas stations would squeegee your windshield, check your oil and washer fluid while pumping your gas.
It has been around 25 years since that I have seen the squeeges.
Had the window down, guy demanded I give him a dollar, I drove off and he gave chase yelling that he is going to kill me. This was in NYC 1982.
Well, Maryland and NY are two states I consciously avoid. :)
I just paid the buck. Considered it just another toll.
At least the guy was showing some gumption!
when we went to a football game in El Paso many yrs later, we did take the tour bus into juarez...had a couple of drinks....shopped....then we had the brilliant idea to get off the tour bus so we could do a little more shopping around......sheesh......nothing bad happened but to think of what Juarez is now....

i was po.
Now I am just ole and po.
They used to be all over the traffic coming to and from the old Memorial Stadium on 33rd (baseball and football season)
They didn't spray it with dirty water first ...
I truly loathe that sort of stuff.
Juárez es una alcantarilla ...
I live about a mile north of the Baltimore City line. In the ‘80’s and ‘90’s, I worked in downtown Baltimore. There were some squeegee kids at a few intersections around the Inner Harbor. Now I work in the suburbs. I studiously avoid downtown around the Inner Harbor or the two professional ballparks to the west. It is mostly intersections in those areas where the squeegee “kids” hang out. Many seem to be in their late teens to early 30’s but it can be really hard to tell since some 13 year olds are 6’4” with goatees and look like hardened felons with their hoodies up. These turds mainly hassle the out of towners especially those with New Jersey tags in luxo SUV’s. The typical white libs who come to town looking for unicorns.
I remember this scam back in the Bowery when I was a kid. It didn’t often lead to violence. They relied mostly on intimidation. And it worked!
But it didn’t work against my mother and I the one time they tried it. I was 14 and started screaming and cussing at them like I was a crazy drunk sailor. They backed off. Thank God. Stay away from that kid, he’s nuts! (Yes, my mom was mortified.)
Cops stop it in Baltimore? I don’t think they arrest anyone anymore.
