38-year-old Brandon John Chance and his wife, Aly, both jumped from the bridge around noon, but Brandon Chance deployed his parachute late and hit the water with the chute only partially deployed.
Sheriffs spokeswoman Lori Stewart said Chances wife pulled him from the water and performed CPR, but Chance did not survive his injuries.
The I.B. Perrine Bridge spans a canyon 486 feet (148 meters) above the Snake River in Twin Falls, Idaho. Its a popular destination for BASE jumpers and is the only man-made structure in the United States where people can BASE jump year-round without a permit.

Used to live near there - it’s spectacular and Shoshone Falls are even better. It’s a long, long way down to the water. Fishermen are advised to look up because one time a bungee jumper whose crew panicked and scooted at the approach of a police car left him just sort of dangling there. Not. Happy. People are crazy...

I don't understand this new brand of "extreme" sports. BASE and cliff jumping, the need to ride a bike on a rocky precipice. These people are seeking to fill some empty space inside themselves. There's little to no margin for error. A small slip means instant death. Is your newlywed not worth it?
