Lynn Swanns time as USCs athletic director has come to an end. USC president Carol Folt announced Monday that Swann has resigned from his position and that Dave Roberts, a special advisor for Folt, will be the schools interim AD until a new hire is made. Swanns resignation is effective immediately.

I know (and care) nothing about college football. But my memories of Lynn Swann are of a guy who made catching a football look like ballet. I do mean that as a compliment. He was amazing back in a day when the NFL was still great.
The AD isn’t nearly as important as the Assistant AD when it comes to day-to-day operations.
But a big name like Lynn Swann as your AD is worth its weight in gold when it comes to shaking down big donors for cash.
The problem isn’t that the ADs didn’t know what they were doing, the problem was that the University let the ADs try to do things.
Hmmm! A few years ago Lynn Swann ran as a Republican for US Congress representing Pittsburgh.
No Republican has represented Pgh for many, many decades, so the idiot voters in my city defeated him. (”Republicans is fer da rich people. Democrats is fer da workin’ man.”)
I wonder if Mr. Swann is thinking of running again?
Maybe USC can get Chip Kelly to replace him. /S
Hes too busy burying UCLA football in Tommy Prothros grave.
But watching the Steelers was great. The Steel Curtain. Swann. Harris. Bradshaw.
Those were the glory days for the NFL.
Let’s not forget Lambert and one of the most decent and selfless men ever to play in the league, Mel Blount.
Voted for him for Governor in PA. I’m sure he would have done a better job than anybody we’ve had since.
At least USC seems to have found a QB.
SC’s new President Folt cleaned house at North Carolina and now is doing the same at Troy, which needs it desperately. I say that as a proud alumnus.
