very skeptical. I wish my dog would simply pretend to faint when I try to trim her nails

Pyriel, Yorkshire, United Kingdom,:

This dog fainted more convincingly than Clare Bronfman did before the judge in the NXIVM case.

The dog did every thing except put is paw to his head and say “I’ve got vapors”.

I don’t like pit bulls. I have noticed that most of their owners are as ugly as they are.

My dog screams like she’s dying even before the first clip.

Human: “Okay, time for a trim!” Pit Bull: “Don’t even think about it human or you will wind up like the meals on a Chet99 post!”

My brother’s dog does the same thing, complete with trembling and whining.

I just trimmed my Maine Coon cat’s nails about 10 minutes ago. She is really very good about letting me do it, giving only a token struggle. Singing little songs to her does the trick to get her to stay still enough so I can safely clip her nails. For my other cat, singing songs doesn’t work, but telling her “No!” in a low but semi-threatening voice gets the minimal amount of cooperation which lets me get the job done. Little stinker.

Three dogs stand patiently like horses having their hooved trimmed.

The boy Dobe acts as though I’m trying simultaneously rip off his paws and steal his soul.

If I persist, he punches me in the face.

Literally.

Nasty right hook.

I don't believe that breed shown is a pit bull. Not 100% sure, but I think it is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Also, the dog wasn't feigning fainting. What it was doing was submitting and asking the nail clipper to not cause harm. Dogs will roll over and submit in this way when they want to demonstrate passivity and pleading.

Actually, I think the dog was NOT pretending to faint. It was doing what it needed to counter what it knows is a stressful situation - it went limp with total relaxation. I wish my dogs had learned to do that.

Today there are knew pet grooming tools that do not clip the nail, but instead apply a very small battery operated grinding wheel tool, that just gently grinds the end of the nail down.
