Danielle Burnett, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, was scaling the steepest part of the trail Thursday when she fell more than 500 feet (150 meters) down the steep, rocky terrain.
Gediman says Burnett was dead when Park Rangers arrived on the scene.
Rangers installed cables to help hikers get to the top of the 8,800-foot rock face.
The cables are installed each summer to assist the climbs of thousands of hikers who make the popular 14-mile round trip.

“And Im assuming there is a different way back down.”
It’s the only way for a hiker to get up and down. Unless one want’s to do a swan dive off the front face.

Bummer of a finish, but she got a great selfie!

The picture in post 20 makes it look much less steep and wider than the picture in post 9.

If you stay inside the cables, its not easy to misstep or fall from there.
I suspect she fell once she was at the top - people like to take selfies at the sheer cliffs at the summit.
