Everyone thinks they are safe under a tree, or somehow drier, but you NEVER stand under a tree in a thunderstorm.
:(
Falling limbs can suck too
Geez, bad situation. Lie in a ditch by the side of a road, I guess. Don’t lie near a gravestone, even.
“Two joggers zapped by lightning in cemetery, hundreds reported dead. Breaking news at 11...”
If you get caught in a T-storm on the golf course just hold a 1-iron above your head because even God can’t hit a 1-iron.
Herlinger was a Cincinnati occupational safety & health coordinator in risk management, according to a statement from City Manager Patrick Duhaney.
Stupid can be deadly.
Herlinger was the “top occupational SAFETY officer” for the city.
Very sad. Two teens were killed by lightning here this spring, about a week after they’d graduated high-school.
I feel bad for their families. But the first thing you learn about lightning safety is dont stand under a tree.
They did not choose wisely.
EVERYONE knows not to do this in a lightening storm. Well, these 3 didn't. It's like running with scissors. Sheesh.
It’s like the story...
Big storm comes up... sheriff drives up to house and says to couple - you must evacuate... they say the lord will take care of us.
water covers road and rises to porch... neighbor comes by in his jon boat and says come with us... they say the lord will take car of us..
they are forced to the roof by rising waters... a helicopter comes by ... they wave it off.. the lord will take care of us..
the couple drowns... in heaven they ask god why he didn’t take car of them..
the lord says. I sent the sheriff, a boat and a helicopter.. what else did you want me to do..
sometimes you just should listen, like when the caretaker offered them a ride out of the storm.
Reminds me of that old wives’ tale about praying to be saved from a flood but the people dismiss a rescue boat.
I learned as a young child that you never stand under a tree in a thunderstorm. Once you see a tree that has been struck, you remember that forever.
I think we’ve stopped teaching more than just cursive writing and telling time with an analog device. Also, common sense is becoming more and more uncommon.
A family with 3 little kids was camping in Utah. Mom and Dad were in folding camp chairs under a pine tree.
Thunder storm came. Wha-Bang. Three little orphans.
They used to teach these basic safety principles in grammer school. I guess the schools are to busy trying to drug children and turn them into perverts to bother with teaching them anything useful.
Shocking news.
There's the problem right there. The oak tree is a lightening magnet. The ground beneath will be electified, shocking anyone "sheltering" underneath.
OHIO PING!
Please let me know if you want on or off the Ohio Ping list.
