Michigan will be the first state in the nation to ban the sale of flavored e-cigarette products under emergency rules Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ordered Wednesday in an aggressive attempt to curb youth vaping.

The East Lansing Democrat pointed to flavors like apple juice, bubble gum and Nerds in announcing pending rules that will also prohibit “misleading marketing” of vapor products using terms like “clean,” “safe” and “healthy.”

Retailers will have 30 days to pull banned products off their shelves once the rules are filed later this month, a directive that could spark legal challenges but will be implemented under an emergency finding by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

“Gov. Gretchen Whitmer ordered Wednesday in an aggressive attempt to curb youth vaping. “

Only the big issues in Michigan....yeah.

I highly doubt in a state where Pot is all but legal, that freaking flavored vape use is really going to go down among anyone.

Maybe she should partake in vaping and maybe she will get over her desired 45 cent gas tax hike demand.

How much of the opposition to e-cigs by state governments is actually fueled by the loss of tax revenue due to less tobacco sales? This is really the only reasn that makes any sense to me.

At least 14 states have or have approved stiff taxes on vaping, and no doubt all will soon.

The ban on flavored vapes is because of their appeal to the underage. A year or two ago, a c-store I frequent that scans IDs had 90%+ of flavored vapes sold to 18- and 19- year olds.

They are losing lots from me.
Been vaping for 8 years.
Still smoke occasionally when out of the ejuice.

I know soon they will begin taxing the crap out of vaping.
Many places are banning vaping. It is quickly becoming the Assault rifle of the tobacco world.

Link doesn’t work.

Pot is legal for adults over 21. Not the same as youth vaping.

They are doing it completely wrong.
Instead of banning flavors they should make it mandatory.
But offer only a few disgusting flavors like Skunk, Rotting Corpse, Starbucks Coffee...

What does it matter neither on is good for you stupid is just that stupid.
Vaping is the same deal as weed was before it became legal you can’t stop it.

Why, then, would they not also ban regular cigarettes that are ‘flavored’ with syrups, etc.?

The underlying ‘product’ is tobacco. It is those ‘flavorings’ that distinguish one brand from another.

American youth have gradually been moving towards more non-cigarette forms of tobacco products, with hookah and e-cigarette usage particularly high.

Humans have to suck on something. cigs may be a better choice?

Mark Twain regarding (tobacco) habits:

Habit is habit and not to be flung out of the window by any man, but coaxed downstairs a step at a time.
- Pudd’nhead Wilson’s Calendar

Nothing so needs reforming as other people’s habits.
- Pudd’nhead Wilson

A man may have no bad habits and have worse.
- Following the Equator, Pudd’nhead Wilson’s New Calendar

To have nothing the matter with you and no habits is pretty tame, pretty colorless. It is just the way a saint feels, I reckon; it is at least the way he looks. I never could stand a saint.
- “An Austrian Health Factory” alternately titled “Marienbad”

You can’t reach old age by another man’s road. My habits protect my life but they would assassinate you.
- 70th birthday speech, 1905

voters wil not get over the gas tax. only ones who loke it, don’t drive or are rich. but they all eat, shop for clothes, have gas delivered to heat homes, rely on firetrucks and EMS that need gas. The cost will exponentiate and the car-less snowflakes will ponder what happened then blame it on the president.

This vaping is a manufactured crisis to deflect from Whitmer’s failure to “fix the damn roads” campaign promise. She needed some kind of win.
