The spurs on a rooster can be two inches long and very sharp.
Is that why people host chicken fights?....or whatever they're called?

Roosters are bad, no way around it. But if you want to ‘grow’ chicks, you have to have one, and learn rooster management and self-defense ;-)
My uncle had a bull. I wasn’t allowed anywhere near it.

Yes. Second to dog fighting, one of the nastiest ‘sports’ the unwholesome mind of man has come up with.

In Cock fights they often attach custom made blades to the roosters spurs.

If one chicken in the flock gets a sore the other chickens will peck at the sore until the chicken with the sore dies.

I’ve seen crows exhibit similar behavior - not necessarily in response to sores, per se; but they will go against another crow who has apparently done something socially ‘incorrect’, or exhibited weakness; or is a foreigner who has wandered into their territory without ‘fitting in’.
The cries of the accused one being assaulted in this way are pitiful.
I have always loved birds; but they can be very ‘vicious’ by civilized human lights.

One of my favorite movies - fun to watch, while having the benefit of knowing that birds never act like that :-)

Turkey Farmers wear safety glasses, because turkeys have the ability to pluck out your eyeball in a flash they know exactly what to strike. I’ve also heard ostriches and emus who do much the same thing however an ostrich or emu also has formidable talons and they can rip you up pretty badly.
