Man, black bear deaths are really rare. But if one is gonna happen, that is part of the geographical sweet spot.

I read that quote the last time I was in one of these Black Bear threads. It was a worthwhile thread because it caused me to do a lot of research on the critters. I have 32 acres, 2/3 of it wooded. And there are occasional black bear sightings around here.

But I’m honestly not too worried about an attack, what with sticks, a machete, etc., and the fact that they are not agressive like grizzlies. And they are not really that big compared to a 6’ 1” guy like me in shape.

Though I’d not want to fight one. Weight is only part of the formula.

It’s always something no matter where you live. Tornadoes in the middle states, sharks and hurricanes on the coast, wildfires in the west, gangs in urban areas above the Mason/Dixon line, bears to the north and illegals everywhere.
