People who proudly don body ink and have visible tattoos are more likely to act on impulse and make actions in haste, according to a new study. It also discovered that, as a result of these poorly thought through snap decisions, they are likely to not consider the full scope of their actions. The study was conducted by economists and was done on more than 1,000 people...Tattoos have their origins in the ne'er-do-wells of society, with the authors noting body art 'largely reserved for criminals, sailors and circus freaks'.

cripes...I remember when women wearing “open toed” shoes were slutty...
Thats the one. Fine book but I think it is not widely known.
I guess these people have never heard the old saying “act in haste, repent at leisure”.
I’m glad the fads of my day were in clothing and cars. Easier to get rid of those pictures of bell bottom jeans than a tattoo. ;)
Should anyone who can afford a tattoo be entitled to any government assistance?
And fake silk shirts and leisure suits.
And those stupid platform shoes!
Most of the tattooed, young men seen around my area are parodied by this boy with the curly mullet.

Saw one today, whose hair was sticking up from the top of his head like a pineapple top. The rest of his hair was cut short. Quite a few like that or with other topknot variants. Others simply have very long hair. They’re often into ecstasy, meth, benzodiazepines etc., and some into anime (locally called anime fags by other young men).
Tattoo...a permanent reminder of a passing fad, gotten by those who want to express their individuality by doing the same thing as everyone else.
NOPE!

Buy a set of permanent felt tip markers, fine point.
Save a colorful picture from a tatoo website.
Draw the picture on your arm. Go to work and show it off.
Show off your tatoo in public.
Draw a face tatoo. Walk around in public.
One month later, your felt ink tatoo is gone. Worn off.
Read what you wrote about the experience.
“Should anyone who can afford a tattoo be entitled to any government assistance?”
NO!
Well, yes. I suspect almost all of us have thought that all along. When I was young tattoos were usually applied to drunk men who got them on dares and just because they had some alcoholic fantasies in their heads. Sailors got them because that has been a seafaring tradition since the South Seas Islands were discovered and visited.
Tatoo wearers get them to make some kind of statement. They want the attention in order to impress in a way that they feel they otherwise are incapable of. Hey, look at me, I’m...(fill in the blank)
Why else would anyone subject themselves to the pain? They’re getting something out of it. Some insecurity issues going on? However, they certainly are adept at justifying it, and I would be too if I ever felt I needed to decorate my body.
Men with all over tattoos, especially on the face and neck should be shot on sight by police or anyone armed. Those who get those tats for style or to be cool should know they are playing with gangster fire and too bad for them.
Me too, and I’m female. On some days, I feel like I’m walking amongst a comic strip. Tattoos are usually ugly, no matter how artistic. I only give them a pass when they’re put on to honor someone who has died.
Rhett & Link on youtube have a tattoo PSA that is hilarious.
Different tattooed beings saying, `don’t do it’.
My favorite: “At age 30 you will arrive at an important financial crossroads: buy the minivan or buy laser tattoo removal”.
If you see a Tattoo on a Gal that says “minimum deposit required” across her lower Back, don’t assume she is a Banker.
