People who proudly don body ink and have visible tattoos are more likely to act on impulse and make actions in haste, according to a new study. It also discovered that, as a result of these poorly thought through snap decisions, they are likely to not consider the full scope of their actions. The study was conducted by economists and was done on more than 1,000 people...Tattoos have their origins in the ne'er-do-wells of society, with the authors noting body art 'largely reserved for criminals, sailors and circus freaks'.

But is the Pope Catholic?
“Lets drink to our legs”
Jerry Seinfeld (paraphrasing) says the freak show at the circus is not needed as there are more of them now outside the circus.
” I date women with tattoos now. I look at her and think, now there’s a woman who is willing to make a mistake”
I dated two women with tattoos.
Yea I’d agree with that.
I had a sailor on my watch who was heavily tattooed. He knew he was dying from cancer caused by tattoos from all over the world. He went through two bouts of liver disease from the tattoos and still got them. He said he was really stupid.
My wish is the younger generation will see these mistakes and not get them.
You will never regret NOT getting a tattoo...
Ive noticed a trend with women getting more and more tats. A lot of them quite attractive (women not tats). And were not talking about cute little strawberries or butterflies, discreetly located, but full body tats; sleeves, and I dont know what all else theyre called.
My opinion, and its just my opinion on the matter, is that ink on a beautiful woman, or any woman really, is like graffiti on a work of art.
Growing up, I remember seeing men that had served in WWII and Korea who had gotten tats when they were young and the skin was clean and tight. By the time I saw their ink, time and life had done its deed.
Skin ages, ink migrates... the ravages of time and life take their toll and youre left with an un recognizable muddled mess. The more intricate the tat the uglier the mess.
In this day and age Im sure Ill be castigated for such un PC thoughts. Dont care.
“My wish is the younger generation will see these mistakes and not get them.”
One can only hope.
Or she can have an ‘Attempted deposit okay’ Tattoo for us older guys!!
I may not be a scholar but I also don’t bring in as my source an advice column from a dicey Catholic rag.
Agreed. I am living proof that isn’t true. I think everything through and weigh my options when I make major decisions. Hell, I don’t even permit myself impulse buys when I grocery shop.
I also designed my own tattoo, and it has emotional meaning. I didn’t just decide, “Hey, I’m gonna get a random tat!”. Not how that went. I also had a friend of mine, who does tattoos professionally, do the inking.
Many people get tattoos to commemorate loved ones lost, or time spent in the military or as a first responder. They also cover scars that burden them, such as those caused by a violent relationship in the past, an organ transplant or other medical procedure, or again, scars from time spent in the military.
And let us not forget those like the Samoans who have tattoos because it is a tradition in their culture. I suppose they are also reckless and impulsive in their decisions.
The Yakuza in Japan are big on tattoos. There is a museum in Tokyo where some of the best are on display. Give that a bit of thought for a moment...Here are some pictures...

Scars are the only true story tellers.
Excellent observation.
When I was looking to buy my first house I did a search to see if any sex offenders lived nearby as I had a young son. I was surprised how many there were in any given neighborhood. But what I found to be telling is that all of the sex offenders had tattoos. All of them. That’s not to say that everyone with a tattoo is a sex offender of course. But I have to wonder why people find it necessary to speak their minds or display their likes and dislikes on their bodies in such a permanent way. Can’t someone just carry on a conversation without putting ink in his body? Skin is such a beautiful organ. Why mess it up? Especially women. It’s just gross.
Leviticus 19:28
Why? Are you going to forget youve made the pilgrimage?
Gee, ya don’t say?
“....from a dicey Catholic rag....”
So what do you consider a better source of information, or is it just anti-Catholic you feel?
