This is absolutely palpable to me on my daily drive home.
The degree to which other drivers have lost patience over the past 1 to 2 decades is abundantly noticeable.
I left my 8 mile commute in Seattle for a 75 mile commute in Kentucky. The Kentucky commute takes longer, but not much longer. When I visit relatives in Seattle, I’m appalled at what people put up with there. Thank God I’m the only one driving on the shoulder on I-5 and I 405 or I’d never get anywhere.

Other forms of road courtesy have declined in the last few decades. I am generally a patient driver but the amount of people who pace with traffic and don’t pass in passing lanes is epidemic. I honestly think a lot of them are road trolling and know perfectly well it’s a passing lane, so I don’t give them the pleasure of seeing a reaction or tailgating. I agree with you though, it’s not just patience that is declining though. It’s many forms of positive qualities and virtues
