Fox News chief anchor Shepard Smith on Wednesday disputed President Trump’s recent remarks about border wall construction, saying on air that "there is no new wall."
Smith's remarks were in response to a tweet from the president that said the wall is "going up very fast."
"So far, despite the president's claims to the contrary, there is no new wall," Smith said. "Existing barriers have been replaced. Same span. The total of repaired barrier is about 60 miles along that 2,000-mile border."
"The president also said in the tweet that the wall is going up rapidly. It is not. As we just reported, there's no new wall. Only replacement for walls which were in need of repair or upgrade. Those are the facts," Smith added.

If a wall replaces a fence, it is a new wall. Now if there is a wall already there, then it is a replacement.

He’s lying. There was no wall like this and replacing broken down chain link fences with steel wall in critical areas, is a new wall.
As for quickly or not, any delay is owing to scumbag leftists like Shepard Smith.
On campaign trail, Trump made it clear simply that wall was going to be unclimbable, had compared it with much longer Great Wall of China.
In fact, when Mexico scoffed about paying for wall, Trump joked that wall just got 10ft higher.

Trump’s discussions about wall reasonably meant that any existing fence will replaced if it’s broken or uselessly short.
So what leftist Smith is doing is changing the goal posts.
