Im sure this post wont stay up long But as a born-again evangelical I no longer feel comfortable on this site. It has become openly and aggressively pro Catholic. Catholicism is heresy.
Thank you Jim for putting so much effort into this clearinghouse of ideas But the bombardment of papers nonsense can a longer be tolerated by me.
God bless all who proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord. God bless America
The Monk’s Aria by P.D.Q. Bach

Lord, have mercy on my soul so low.
Gotta lighten up the discussion somehow. BTW I’m Catholic and the monk’s aria is funny as all get out.
Anyway, more insults & accusations of apostasy than usual. Catholics not Christian? C’mon, you can do better than that. Kinda like me accusing Protestants of handling snakes while reading Chick tracts.
IMHO, in these dangerous Islamic times we Christians need to find what we hold in common rather than what divides us. The Thirty Years’ war is over. The Inquisition is over. King Henry VIII is dead. But Islam still endangers us; it is a tide that is always coming in.
All glory, laud, and honor to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Your BS has been around so long it's stale, no one buys it. People on FR for the most part are smart enough and well read enough to know what I said was factually accurate and when it was done.
Sorry, your original request was an attempted diversion into arguing whether or not a given source meets your standards as a way to change the subject and move past the truth as quickly as possible.
Wow. What a fine representative of Roman Catholicism you are.
But the reality remains that by some means RC's seem to have achieved a type of protected status on FR, and thus are able to incessantly pope articles promoting an elitist one true church, which historically damned those who dissent from it, and at the least, today teaches that Prot churches are unworthy of the proper title "church."
RC posters can not only post provocative articles defending distinctive Catholic teachings (that are not manifest in the only wholly inspired substantive authoritative record of what the NT church believed), but also can post many articles attacking the beliefs of evangelicals. However, if the latter practice the same them they risk being pulled or banned, as in the past.
However, to be fair, that was a result of some Prot freepers going overboard in posting articles of reproofs on Catholicism, yet certain RCs seem to have taken that as freedom to post their articles promoting their one true church but not allowing articles against that presumption.
While an expressed policy of FR is that of being pro-God, the "only true Judeo-Christian God as taught to us by KJV with no additional editing or books of fiction," and pro-America, and protecting our religious freedom, etc. and that no false gospel shall be taught here as Truth, and the fellow promoters of a "one true church" (FR Mormon) were censored , yet Catholics are free to promote a church with a false gospel of salvation by merit, of actually becoming good enough to be with God thru sacraments and Purgatory. As documented .
Thus those who would post articles critical of that presumption should have the same freedom as those who promote it.
Now in the interest of the broader issues of conservatism versus liberals, then evangelicals (as the most conservative major religious body in the West ) find an ally in the remnant of conservative traditional Catholics. And thus the owner has exhorted , "Catholics, Protestants, Evangelicals, Jews, etc, are not the enemy. ALL conservative pro-life, pro-family pro-America believers in our one true Judeo-Christian God are our guests, friends and allies in this effort, so please don't attack your allies!" However, attacks are usually in response to articles that promote a one true church, and thus provoke responses, and certain RCs oppose the freedom to criticize their faith (as they define it), and seem to long for a Catholic monarchy that would silence them. As in the past. Which is not pro-America, and pro-freedom.
You seem to be conspicuously absent from the RF.
Search “philadelphia anti-catholic riots 1844” and read what you like. Similar incidents occurred in other eastern cities during this period. Philly was probably the worst.
Probably about the best defense of the issue Ive read.
>There has been nothing but criticism against the current Catholic Church on FR especially since Francis has been Pope.
What are you talking about?<
In the past 3 years [posted 2015], RCs were posting open threads as:

The Hail Mary of a Protestant
500 Years of Chaos: Protestantisms Anniversary
And which is just a few, plus multitudes of pro RC polemics for herself that invite and incite debate.
It is certain RCs who favor a RC monarchy for American, under which FR would simply be an servant for her, while evangelical Christians, many of which are former RCs, make up the most conservatives.
Yes. I am acquainted with the history both here in the US and Europe of how both sides have been treated. I also have no doubt some, if they could, would continue the Inquisition.
Ahem, the Orthodox churches say they are.
They all claim the same past.
You could have done everyone a favor here and done it a lot sooner.
You don’t speak for me, I do not deny the trinity, I do deny the books that were included for a while for their historical context, but Jesus and the disciples made no mention of them.
The RC church also green lit the Rwanda genocide more recently. I’ll stick with Jesus and pray to him. He’s my intercessory and my redeemer and my savior. No praying to dead people for me or other garbage.
I am Catholic. I may or not remain one as I am increasingly disturbed by the direction the Church is headed under this Pope.
That being said, I do understand why certain other Christians look at us and see heresy. The charge that we engage in Mary Worship for example (which officially is not Church teaching, but as a practical matter it goes on all the time).
Bottom line is that you’re living in an allegedly free country that protects freedom of religion. As such you are going to have to find ways to get along peacefully with many whom you regard as heretics.
I personally have no problem with Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, or any other religion so long as they don’t have a problem with me. Muslims are only a problem because they have teachings which say heretics need to be killed.
Assume the catholic church supported a tyrant.
would you feel the same way?
The Lord be with you.
Actually contrary to a liberal premise, Truth is exclusive nature, and thus assertions of absolute statements are divisive. Thus when a class of religionists practice promoting a church which they repeatedly insist is uniquely the one true church - as a posted article by a FR RC did again 2 days ago (Hatred Converted Me To Catholicism) - then it provokes a response by those it excludes.
You may contend that such should not post such, or that challenges and reproof of such should not be allowed or practiced, but neither is American in the sense of the Founders, nor is not responding Scriptural. Yet allowing challenges and reproof of their promotions and assertions is what many Catholic provocateurs object to.
As far as Im concerned, you are a good Christian or Jew based on your conduct towards others, as directed in the Bible, whatever sect you adopt If not, get onto a religious website and deal with it there.
I understand the need for a united stand against a common enemy, from totalitarian liberalism to Islam, but to ignore ideological differences btwn allies in such a front can mean defeating one enemy while conceding to or strengthening another.
Here is part of what the author of the article referred to stated:
And finally, here in North America, we had the Protestant English, who in their perpetual protest against apostolic authority, saw fit for 300 years to wage physical and cultural war to drive out the Spanish and French Catholics from this realm, clearing the field to make way for a Hebraic -Puritan oligarchy that we now know as the United States.
And further states , I do however, unapologetically, advocate for the institution of Catholic monarchy here and everywhere.
So its liberal censorship of that of Rome (whom these TradCaths also censure) as they see fit.
I left the Roman Rite to become Byzantine, because the worship is ancient and the liturgy is gorgeous. All the smells and bells are still there.
I spent many years in Protestant Bible studies and small groups. I loved every soul with everything I had. They taught me a lot, loved me back, and we all parted as dearest friends (I moved far away).
As for the religious atmosphere on Free Republic (my homepage for 20 years) I find it either refreshing or irritating. I don't participate very often, because I know my humor is sarcastic and easily misunderstood. But I appreciate the fact that all of us can bring our religious beliefs to this forum without fear.
Thank you, Jim Robinson, for the wisdom to open the FR pages to all. God Bless YOU!
This name “RevelationDavid” needs to be “off” of Richie’s list.
But what kind of Roman (as in headquarters) Catholic church is it without subjection to the visible pope as its head, and not just in (claimed) "infallible" teachings ?
For, 'the one duty of the multitude is to allow themselves to be led, and, like a docile flock, to follow the Pastors," "to suffer themselves to be guided and led in all things that touch upon faith or morals by the Holy Church of God through its Supreme Pastor the Roman Pontiff," "of submitting with docility to their judgment," with "no discussions regarding what he orders or demands, or up to what point obedience must go, and in what things he is to be obeyed... not only in person, but with letters and other public documents ;" and 'not limit the field in which he might and must exercise his authority, " for "obedience must not limit itself to matters which touch the faith: its sphere is much more vast: it extends to all matters which the episcopal power embraces," and not set up "some kind of opposition between one Pontiff and another. Those who, faced with two differing directives, reject the present one to hold to the past, are not giving proof of obedience to the authority which has the right and duty to guide them," "Nor must it be thought that what is expounded in Encyclical Letters does not of itself demand consent." (Sources http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/religion/3578348/posts?page=14#14)
Agree; however, you meant to say "fallible" humans. "Infallible" means "can't be wrong."
