The on-air numbers weren't down quite as sharply as in recent years, and MTV is touting big increases in social and online engagement. The Video Music Awards fell in the ratings again but not as steeply as they had in the past couple of years or in comparison to some other recent awards shows.
Monday's kudocast on MTV drew 1.93 million viewers and a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49. That's an all-time low for the flagship channel, down from the previous low set last year of 2.25 million viewers and a 1.1 in the demo. The VMAs have hit all-time ratings lows in each of the past three years.

Yes, you listen to the music, but you can also watch the musicians play their instruments, which is also entertaining. Live performances can be a great enhancement to just listening.
I turned it on out of curiosity, my jaw hit the floor. Take away the smoke, lasers, and flashy stage - it was pure garbage. Then Taylor Swift won an award, how predictable - with the tranny joining her to accept.
If this is being consumed without question by our youth...smh.
I love the African Anteater Dance.
#6 You need talent to play rock and pop music.
Rap is garbage.
“Whats the difference, if any, between rap and hip-hop?”
From the ‘net:
Rap is more about the poetry of words and word styles and Hip Hop is more about the music(beats).
Some music videos are really nice with with hi tech stuff and some are done with class, whereas others are pure trash. I guess it's all about taste.
They do that because they don't believe in anything. They've convinced themselves that the rest of the world is at fault for their failings, and therefore the rest of the world needs to be destroyed, or at least remade to such a degree that it might as well be destroyed.
Of course, there's another layer of the situation, which is a (somewhat smaller) population of people who have figured out how to manipulate the population of self-pityers and world-destroyers to achieve their personal desires regardless of the long-term damage they cause. Some of these are psychopaths or sociopaths, some are truly evil.
They are only tolerated because Western Civilization is tolerant of outliers, of "square pegs." This is because our civilization believes that human life is extremely valuable, and that today's rebel can be tomorrow's creator of value.
They are essentially malware that lives within this system. They couldn't exist by themselves. They couldn't survive in isolation, at least not without changing their views, values, and philosophy.
You can watch any video you want on YouTube.
Frankly, I don’t know why MTV even exists anymore.
eMpTyV !
Rap is more about the use of poetry words to be vile, vulgar, crude and denigrate other people. If white people sang like black people do, it would be illegal/hate speech.
That ain’t workin’!
They actually do it because it is part of "Critical Theory" training which they developed almost a hundred tears ago.
Go watch Rammstein’s “Deutschland” video, it’s a big-time production.
I’m not into rap or HH but this hip hop song is very good.
Very Bob Marleyish.

Was that 1.93 million viewers of the VMAs just for MTV or was that the total for all 6 (MTV, BET, VH1, PRMT, TVL, NICK) cable channels that carried it?
What’s the difference, if any, between rap and hip-hop?
What are the similarities?
On another issue have you ever listened to traditional African music?
That stuff is so great, rhythmically and harmonically. Why would anybody with African-American roots listen to that rap crap?
>>>Swift is visibly starting to age and put on weight<<<
Oh come on, that’s just silly.
She may be just another insane Libtard, but she is still a Cutie.
Need more coffee.
Who wants to watch a big pile of illiterate, immoral trash pat themselves on the back...
while they spew insults at the American public.
I think a great deal of us grew up on MTV and those were the days of great videos, actual music news and cool VJs. As cliche as it is,liberalism and agenda driven rot destroyed MTV just as the video killed the radio star.
