This is the equivalent to the midget pinch hitter the White Sox did back in the 1930s.
"And there's a hole. And I had never seen a hole....playing for Temple.."
And then...*PWEPT!*..........And the pain, was tremendous!
I threw down the ball and said, "Ow! He hit me in the..." - "Please do not touch certain areas of your body while on the field."
"So I grabbed my head!"
In a real game i suspect her kick would have been blocked. She took more steps prior to the kick (I.e. took longer) and the defenders would have been all over her. That said, I think it was the first field goal attempt shes ever tried and she nailed it so with time and training she might be able to be a good NFL kicker ... until she got hit or had to make a tackle, that is.
Well then suit her up I guess if she kicks better than the competition.
stories like this really annoy me....
In the parade of publicity stunts pulled by pro sports teams over the years, this is far from the dumbest. It will sell tickets and tshirts and draw a lot of ratings. I hope she signs with the Redskins.
That was from Bill Cosby’s “Hofstra” routine
Best thing to happen to the NFL since Kaepernick.
Remember the NFL years when there wasnt any soccer style kickers? They just lined up straight behind the holder not off to the side. To my knowledge straight on kickers are extinct even in college.
What’s this NFL of which you speak?
Haha, Jan Stenerud, Garo Yepremian, Sebastian Janikowski and a host of others called. They want to know what rock you have been living under for the past 60 years...
She is 5’8”.
I have no doubt she could kick a reasonable field goal even fully dressed, hell some of the mail kickers are pretty small guys...
Not talking about a lineman here.
However, I am sure there are alot of men who could one time hit a 55 yard field goal but would never be offered a chance on an NFL team.
... while ten 300 lb. guys are rushing at her.
Not going to happen. More than likely the other team will not come off the snap — they’ll just stand up & applaud when she makes her chipshot. Like watching the handicapped kid making an uncontested layup.
Watched the tape of her making that 55-yarder. She takes an extra step to develop the distance. She might not get that kick away with a rush.
Eddie Gaedel was 3’7” and pinch hit for the St. Louis Browns whose owner, Bill Vieck, was quite a showman. The midget walked on four pitches and was relieved at first by a pinch runner. This was in August of 1951.
But that would be sexist.....or something.
