Viola Davis is set to portray former First Lady Michelle Obama in First Ladies, a one-hour White House drama, which has been put on fast-track development at Showtime with a three-script commitment. Davis will executive produce the project, which hails from writer Aaron Cooley (novels Four Seats: A Thriller of the Supreme Court, The Guns of Ridgewood), Davis and Julius Tennons JuVee Productions, Cathy Schulmans Welle Entertainment (Otherhood), Jeff Gaspins Gaspin Media (LAs Finest) and Brad Kaplan (The Intruder). Showtime and Lionsgate TV co-produce.

The idea for the series originated with Schulman, who was inspired by a spec script Cooley had written about Lady Bird Johnson. In line with the mission of Schulmans company Welle Entertainment, which is dedicated to making female facing content, the series will look at American History presidencies through a female lens (the First Ladies).
Cooley executive produces along with Davis and Tennon via their JuVee Productions, Schulman via Welle Entertainment, Gaspin via Gaspin Media and Kaplan via LINK Entertainment.
Material for First Ladies comes entirely from the public domain. Several years ago, Reese Witherspoon and Anonymous Content teamed to produce a TV series based on Kate Andersen Browers bestseller First Women: The Grace & Power Of Americas Modern First Ladies, with Robin Wright attached to direct and executive produce.
Davis currently stars in How To Get Away with Murder, which begins its sixth and final season this fall on ABC. She and Tennon most recently executive produced with Steph Curry documentary Emanuel about the shooting tragedy that struck the Emanuel A.M.E. church on June 17, 2015. JuVees Davis and Tennon also are executive producing Fast Color, a TV series based on the 2018 sci-fi film, for Amazon.
Guess Idris Elba wasn’t available.
And her butt is too small to play MO. However, on Viola those proportions look very nice.
L to R: Queen Letizia of Spain, former first lady of France Carla Bruni, and former U.S. first lady Michelle Obama
My bet is January, 2020. That Martha’s Vineyard house is so Camelot!
Is Viola Davis a guy?
I mean, shouldn’t roles go to people of the same gender?
Thread winner.
Nicole Bass has the look, charisma, and energy necessary to play the role of Big Mike
Oh sheesh....like we need to hear about the Obananas further....well they said they were going to be a part of Hollywood (Michele’s dream) well I say no thanks!..They’ve certainly created ‘a cesspool’ with their hands into Netflex. The trash they’re pushing now is awful without the deviant junk they’ve added.....
