LARGO — A jury found Michael Drejka guilty of manslaughter late Friday in the 2018 shooting death of Markeis McGlockton in a convenience store parking lot.
The conviction came after 6½ hours of deliberations by the jury of five men and one woman.
It was read aloud at 10:41 p.m. Drejka stared straight ahead, standing beside his lawyers. He could face up to 30 years in prison.
In the front row of the gallery, McGlockton’s girlfriend, Britany Jacobs threw up her hands and clapped. A woman broke into sobs. McGlockton’s father pressed his elbows into his knees as supporters squeezed his shoulder. His mother embraced family.

It’s not just the media’s assertion that the man was backing away. It’s on the video.
And backing away would have been a perfectly normal thing to do. If I were arguing with a person maybe six feet away from me, and that person suddenly pulled a gun, my first instinct would be to back up. I don’t think anyone’s first instinct would be to turn and run. That might come after backing up.

In response to telling the store manager. he did and the store manager told him not to do anything. This guy was a loose cannon. granted the guy he killed was an ex con and a self made bad ass and is now dead and the world is a better place w/o him. the world is also a better place with out the shooter

That being said. I don’t understand someone aggressively confronting someone in this situation. I’ve occasionally given a friendly warning to people that, if a cop comes by, it’s a $250 fine.
I would have voted for an acquittal.
Everything you said here is what cops do every day. Now tell the cops to stop aggressively coming up on people and aggressively questioning them. Good luck with that.

"He told me I can't help it. Every time I do this I get in trouble, and I can't help it. I keep doing it," Salous said.
I’m in FLA too (winter park) and there is no way Drejka gets charged, let alone convicted on the very long stretch of it going to trial (due to a weak DA like Trayvon Martin’s) being spineless - spacejunk2001 #500

It’s not very difficult to exhibit road rage in Florida in 2019 if you happen to be a white male. You are a target whether you like it or not, whether or not it is justified. The minorities have learned the law is selectively applied and selectively enforced. That’s all they need to know.
Instead, he did not pass GO and did not collect $200 - for the rest of his life.
