Matteo Salvini is the leader of his party, The Lega Nord. When they teamed up with Five Star before the last election they were a regional party. Now, thanks to Italy's Trump (Salvini) they are considered the dominant party in Italy. They have had huge wins this year in local and regional elections...and if snap elections are called in the wake of Conti's resignation they will be swept into power. Which is why Five Star will probably sign on with ANY coalition possible.
Salvini currently serves as Deputy Prime Minister and leads the Interior Ministry. He's the one who has put the clamps on illegal immigration into Italy. He's completely pro-life, anti EU and a strong supporter of President Trump, and he's despsed by pope frank. That's my way of saying he's a helluva great guy!
