At 6’1” I’m miserable in coach. Then, about 15 years ago, I drove out to Davis, CA from Knoxville, TN and back, added up the total cost, and discovered flying round trip first class would have been cheaper. All of my subsequent round rips to CA have been first class.
Yes, it’s about 3-4 days of driving. So you have gas, wear and tear on your car, meals, and 2-3 nights lodging each way. So, yes, flying first class for one person would be cheaper.
