This woman exemplifies why all disaster and rescue relief efforts (and money) should be coordinated at the state/local levels only. The federal government needs to get out of the natural disaster area.

Both Blanco and Nagin sat on their hands waiting for the right opportunity to blame Bush, who (as usual) sat there and didn't defend himself. So the governments sat there bickering while people were being killed (it also didn't help that most New Orlean residents had a mindset that the "gubmint" was going to take care of them, so they weren't proactive themselves).

Let’s just assume that all major Democrat leaders of Louisiana (up till now) and all Democrat leaders of New Orleans were incompetent, corrupt, political buffoons, and a disgrace to the good people of that city and state.

PS: Even out of state cops get robbed in New Orleans during Marti Gras. It happened to three of them who were with my friend (these cops didn’t have their guns with them, my friend did, but was outnumbered by the “brothers” who had more guns and were willing to use them).

Before Katrina hit, four times Bush asked Blanco directly to make a decision on what NOLA needed from the federal government... and four times she said she wasn’t ready to decide. Then, when the hurricane rolled in, she ran to the nearest TV cameras and ginned up tears, while the criminally corrupt Nagin cussed up a blue storm, blaming Bush for a “total lack of federal resources.”

That, along with Nagin’s refusal to use those 400+ school buses, I will never forget or forgive. Both Nagin and Blanco deserved severe consequences for criminal negligence. Raw politics was more important to them than an orderly evacuation of NOLA.
