A ransomware attack has hit at least 20 local government entities in Texas, the State's Department of Information Resources (DIR) announced on Friday. When a ransomware attack occurs, a computer cannot be utilized until a ransom is paid.
The Texas Division of Emergency Management is currently assisting. As of now, DIR, the Texas Military Department and the Texas A&M University Systems Cyber Response and Security Operations Center have deployed teams to the "most critically impacted jurisdictions." As requests come in, other resources will be implemented.
The goal is to provide computing services and expertise that would get local entities back online, The Statesman reported.
Because of security concerns, the DIR would not release the jurisdictions that were impacted.
"It looks like we found out earlier today, but were not currently releasing whos impacted due to security concerns, Elliot Sprehe, press secretary for the DIR, told KUT.
Officials have told local agencies who may be impacted to contact their Texas Division of Emergency Management Director.
Data is not backed up so they can reset the affected comps and reload the data?
I would not want to be that hacker when they finally figure out who did it. You don’t mess with Texas!

It would be pretty easy if the data was backed up. But governments don’t seem to on the ball. Many of them pay the ransom.
“I would not want to be that hacker when they finally figure out who did it. You dont mess with Texas!”
A nice old saying that does not seem to hold much water anymore. Texas has been infiltrated just like everywhere else. It is only a mater of scale.
VirtualBox is your friend.
So this wasn’t you?

2019 Blog magick can't even splatter mud on my feet.
As the years of their oppression are avenged.
You're a victim of propaganda claiming blogs are good.
Eat a pill.
I think it’s time to sue the hell out of gmail, ymail and hotmail for not screening this crap! These ransomewares all come from 3rd party Emails. Either don’t allow employees to get to them, or beef up security and back the crap up!
Already did.
Your turn.

I understand that in California "eating a pill" can
also mean using a suppository. Wash those hands.
