Is it just me, or has the rate of shootings accelerated dramatically? What is this, the third one reported today?
We haven’t seen anything yet, as we get closer to the 2020 general election... this is just a “tune-up”.
It has always been bad in the hood. Young men lack the level headedness and discipline of an older adult male. Gang members are their only role models and they think that being “dissed” is a reason to murder someone.
A quick search shows an increase in deaths by gunshot beginning around 2014 and continuing to the present. All statistics subject to quibbling, of course. It’s possible that data collection improved.
Every day, 100 Americans are killed with guns and
hundreds more are shot and injured.

How accurate I have no idea.
I’ve sat here thinking about your open question; why are we hearing about so many shootings almost seven days a week?
I think with the downsizing and demise of most city newspapers, these stories simply get uploaded online now.
Most of the incidents we would never hear about, and would be viewed as ‘Local News’. The old Newspaper motto: “If it bleeds, it leads.” remains true to this day.
Online News sites are now hungry for more clicks from we viewers. The more clicks from us, means the News Sites can charge more to advertisers.
“Look at all the people who have come to out site over this story. See how popular we are? Think of all the “X’s” you could sell through Pop-Up ads. These ‘low’ ad rates wont last forever. Ready to buy more space?”
It is that things like this were never reported outside of the local area. Now every shooting is “national” news in order to push gun control.
“Is it just me”
Yes. Peruse the weekly killings in New Orleans for the last twenty years.
If the gov’t would just take away all the guns such violence would stop. (Do I need the sar tag?)
I’ve noticed. This story is tragic.
Needless to say the killer in this case didn't care about laws, and was already breaking the law in multiple ways.
More media.
Is it just me..
Yes, its just you. This week in Chicago alone 37 people have been shot and two killed. And the weekend has just begun. And saying Chicago is rather misleading as its about 12 neighborhoods that are home to virtual all of the violence.
