U.S. Customs and Border Protection computers were shutdown nationwide Friday creating long lines at LAX and other airports around the country.

LAX Airport tweeted out at 1:33 p.m. that “@CBP systems are experiencing an issue which appears to be impacting multiple airports including LAX. Officers are processing passengers manually so please check with your airline for the latest status of any flight impacts. More details as they become available.

LAX recommended travelers continue to check with their airline directly for information on any potential flight impacts.

Social media posts indicated that John F. Kennedy Airport in New York was experiencing similar problems.

There is a video of the line at JFK as part of the story.

Patience was never one of my virtues—one reason I hate to travel unless it is absolutely necessary.

Same here.

I got caught in ATLANTA customs for almost five hours when this happened. It was hell.

Customs, smushtoms. Everybody gets in! Whoever you are, wherever you’re from! Bring your guns! Bring your drugs! Bring your IEDs!

My Cox cable internet was down for about 15 minutes last week.

Two nights ago, my Amazon Prime was down for several hours. Many others reported problems with it also, so it seemed to be system-wide. My online account said that I was not a Prime member. Last night, it was back to normal and I was able to watch.

Several years ago, the local cable technicians would blame the summer heat as being the problem, when the internet was down. Complain enough and they would finally come out and check the connections. Usually, the problem was in an area ‘hub’.
