I live in Renon. Near Sanur (the best kept secret in Bali).
But yes, an Ubud visit is a must!

I would say don’t believe all you hear about foreign countries.
As for hosptals, my son was just born last week here, and no worries!
Was there three years ago. My water bottle was snatched right out of my hands at Ubud ! Beautiful island. Didn’t have enough time but enjoyed Uluwatu and Padang Padang besides the monkey forest of course.
I’m presuming by the monkeys.

I had my honeymoon in Bali in 2001 just before the terrorist attack in Kuta.
We had dinner within 100 yards of the explosion.
Ubud was my favorite location.
Ubud is the most obvious “best” of Bali. I first visited Ubud in the 80’s, before it’s discovery.
It should still be on your itinerary though.
