Facing an international outcry, thousands of emails and celebrity opposition to the June decision to destroy a historic school mural, the San Francisco school board reversed course Tuesday, voting to obscure the art with panels or similar materials rather than painting over it.
The decision, in a 4-3 vote, means the mural depicting George Washington’s life would survive, but be obscured, at least semi-permanently, from public view.
The compromise was a disappointment to both sides in the debate, with critics saying the art was an outdated relic and preservationists saying the removal from public view is censorship. The tense meeting included yelling and hissing, as well as accusations of racism and ignorance.

The controversy over the large mural at George Washington High School centers on parts of the frescoes depicting slavery and white settlers stepping over a dead Native American.What?? the Dems want to hide a chance to criticize crackers?
Seriously speaking - hiding the fact that there was slavery and that native Americans did die (wounded knee etc.) serves only to make people repeat the errors. It is just as bad as blaming the "white people" today for the murders of the past

They probably get together for tea in the afternoons and discuss the negativity associated with inner city gangs and how rap music is blatantly offensive.

Seriously. What happens when these kids get jobs? I fear for employers. We had some of this stuff happen back in the 1980s in NYC but it is now out of control.
Here’s a thought. How about making this an opportunity to actually TEACH the students about life during the founding of this country? About how the American Indian enslaved neighboring tribes and white settlers after defeating them in battle? Or how people on the frontier were brutalized by marauding Indians?
Education. Pop culture. Media. Three vehicles that contribute to the dumbing down of America and the brainwashing of the impressionable “yoots.” Imagine if Trump said “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country...” The snowflakes in the liberal press would castigate the statement to no end.

Saved $600k by keeping it up. The money can be used downtown to clean up the poop.
A stay of execution at best - you cannot compromise with evil. Doing so only enrages and empowers them even more.
That mural will be defaced or somehow ruined in the dark of night - with no witnesses or clues of course.
Still, a small victory nonetheless.
