NEW YORK (AP) Attorney General William Barr said Monday that there were serious irregularities at the federal jail where Jeffrey Epstein took his own life as he awaited trial on charges he sexually abused underage girls.
The 66-year-old financier was found Saturday morning in his cell at the chronically short-staffed Metropolitan Correctional Center, in a unit known for holding notorious prisoners under extremely tight security.
I was appalled, and indeed the whole department was, and frankly angry to learn of the MCCs failure to adequately secure this prisoner, Barr said at a police conference in New Orleans. We are now learning of serious irregularities at this facility that are deeply concerning and demand a thorough investigation. The FBI and the office of inspector general are doing just that.
He added: We will get to the bottom of what happened and there will be accountability.
The manner in which Epstein killed himself has not been announced. An autopsy was performed Sunday, but New York City Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Barbara Sampson said investigators were awaiting further information.
A private pathologist, Dr. Michael Baden, observed the autopsy at the request of Epsteins lawyers. Baden was the citys chief medical examiner in the late 1970s and has been called as an expert witness in high-profile cases, including O.J. Simpsons 1994 murder trial.

serious irregularities ?
Well, no shitski Sherlock.
“irregularities found at jail where Epstein died”
...like a noose? No guard? That kind of irregularity?
Kind of off topic here...
I expect that this will eventually explode and (hopefully) expose the ugly evil that many many people already highly suspect. I can’t imagine how the courts could bury it. They couldn’t bury the Catholic Church scandal under Cardinal Bernard Law and serial child rapist priest John J. Geoghan.
I will go so far to say that some day there will be a movie made about this. Geeze...I feel nauseous.
As obvious as Capt. Obvious can be.
Irregularities? Really?
Naaaah! Tell me it isn’t so.
Jeff is about as gone as a man can get but I’d bet more than a little he isn’t dead.
We will never know the truth about this fiasco because it isn’t a fiasco. It was all carefully planned and executed.
barr is part of the problem

Our chief law enforcement agencies are crumbling around him. Yet he seems completely detached from the reality of what’s happening on his watch. Its like the house is burning and he doesn’t smell the smoke.
serious irregularities
That’s like a really big boo boo and of course no intent. Move on.
Alleged irregularities. I mean, there isn’t a dead body in the cell now, is there? Looks legit to me.
Would you agree that antifa could easily spark a civil war in this country? I believe so.
That is not trivial by any means.

Really? No shit, Sherlock.
Now, besides being “upset” and calling for another damn “investigation” - what are you going to DO about it and WHEN?
Well, duh...
Paraphrasing the Sundance Kid when he reacts to Butch’s latest brainstorm . . .
You just keep talking, Bill. That’s what you’re good at.
Agree. Prove the DOJ isn’t dirty from top to bottom.
I’m disappointed that Breitbart bought the “chronically short-staffed” and “apparent suicide” BS. There was a homicide. Of course, the dozens of cameras around the place recorded it all . . . oh, wait.
Today its well past time to install a entire new staff of known quality.
Bagpipe Barr needs to immediately fire the fey Wray to gain some minimal cred.
Joyce Mitchell will soon be available, she has good experience at Clinton Correctional facility.
I could not agree more.
There is a very serious, and growing, crisis of credibility and confidence in both the DOJ and FBI. Yet Bagpipe Barr removes no one. He is becoming part of the problem.
And given the abundance of incriminating information already in the public domain there is no reason why, with the considerable resources at his disposal, he couldn’t at least have charged a couple of people by now. Just a few indictments would go a long way toward restoring credibility.
His lack of action is, unfortunately, giving rise to even more doubts and distrust.
LOL.
I had to look her up, but you are TOTALLY correct...
It happened in a federal facility run by the Bureau of Prisons which is part of the US DoJ. The NYS AG has nothing to do with it.
