Hi Gina, Viking, it was another week in the land of pleasant living. Fried some seafood this weekend, staying cool and reading. You?

I am sitting here in my chambers, avoiding any and all invasive life forms. (If you get my drift.) If you want hot, I’ll pipe a little up to you. As the crow flies, I’m sitting about five miles from where the heat advisories start and life on Earth ends. *chuckle* Heat indices up to 109 around here today. And enjoy that fried seafood for me, as well. My lab results came back Monday. I knew they weren’t good when the doc’s office left me a voice mail. He switched up two meds because my A1C shot up over 11, put me on a diet med, and my triglycerides are so off the charts they can’t read my LDL or HLDL because they’re getting false readings. Connie just came in and was eating a Whopper, and flaunting it with mayo on her lip. I told her revenge is a dish best served cold, because my dinner is a salad with tuna in it. I haven’t weighed myself in several days, but I feel like I’ve lost about three pounds so far.

Vision, glad to hear it! We had seafood for lunch, and we’ll have it for dinner, too. Broiled salmon tonight.

Viking, I’m sorry you have “bad numbers.” But a salad with tuna in it is a blessed thing to have. You can have a Whopper another time. :-D

I gotta make a quick run to the store - maybe I can find a can of garbanzo beans to add to it. Doing a sudden switcharoo in my meal intake means I'm gonna need the fiber. LOL! If you ever need a weight loss drug, Adipex is a good one. I feel full just looking at chocolate cake now. That broiled salmon sounds delish!

Your A1C is over 11? Wow. I take it you're diabetic? Have you tried gymnema sylvestre?

Oh, I was diagnosed with Type II over 20 years ago. My first wife said she thought I was diabetic even earlier than that. And I wasn't overweight. It's hereditary on my family's maternal side. At one point about fifteen years ago, I went on a strict diet and exercise program, dropped down to 210, and got my A1C down to 4.5. Man, I was a bit of a gym rat. Even had six pack abs from all the situps and veins bulging from my shoulders to my knuckles. I had the plan, man. Now I can barely walk a straight line for more than ten feet. It wasn't my idea or even my impetus for all my problems to develop, so you'll have to pardon me if I get a wee bit cranky about all of it. The death blow was the leg infections. That was a sort of 'insult to injury' pile-on because I was already on Neurontin for the diabetic neuropathy. You lose the strength and balance in your pins, man, and life stops being as much fun. Then throw in the residual vascular damage, and little things like going to the beach are a distant memory. It won't be too much longer before I'll need granny handles mounted in the shower. I had my disability lawyer update my case with my latest checkup findings (like hell I'll use a walker in the house - allow me a little dignity), and I guess an icicle on the shelf of the federal glacier must have dripped. I got a letter from Alabama Medicaid a couple of days ago, outlining programs I may qualify for. I've never heard of gymnema sylvestre before, but as General Beringer said in the movie War Games, 'I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it'd do any good.'

Gymnema sylvestre reduces blood sugar. I also suggest pancreatin to help your pancreas. Prayers out to you viking and keep that awesome sense of humor. I'm heading to listen in bed.
