I'm the president of the Reunion.
My cousin, first to arrive, is 20 years older than me.
He says who needs assault rifles.
I explain we need them to protect ourselves from the Government.
He says the 2nd amendment is outdated, not meant for these times.
Then he says Trump is a white supremacist.
I said no he is not and please provide one thing he's said or done to back that up.
...anyone sensing a pattern?
I said, you don't watch CNN or MSNBC do you?
He say, you don't watch Fox do you?
Then he says, "you lack critical thinking skills"
I reply, I have a masters from the oldest ivy league engineering school in the United States. (RPI)
He dropped it. His wife and sister were listening in.
They are out their in droves. Retarded group thinkers.
“I’m the president of the Reunion”
Sounds like there is a good reason for that.
.
When it comes to family, the best you can hope for is mutual tolerance.
They’re just going by the script they’ve learned. They cannot debate conservatives and win so the must discredit you via dismissal and ridicule. They can’t win the argument so they must not allow you to make one. Don’t sweat it at all.
“I could agree with you, but then we’d both be wrong” is good for situations like this.
The right of self defense is not only a perfect duty, but also is a perfect right that is never outdated, because it is derived from and implied by the God given natural right to life and property and the natural duty to preserve and protect one's natural rights.
sounds like some of the conversations I’ve had with my in-laws.
One time my wife, her sister, her husband and two friends were sitting around the table. The topic of gun control came up and there my sister in law went. Going on and on about gun control and why she didn’t think that anybody needed a weapon. People with guns were crazy. She could never be in the same room as someone carrying a gun. Blah blah blah.
I am a gun guy but I dont advertise it much. So I am sitting there with a 1911 .45 concealed on my right hip. I’m a big guy I can conceal it well and I have been over to their house many, many times over the years. I always carry.
After about 15 minutes of this she is back to I just couldn’t stay in the same room as a gun. I would know. They just bring a bad aura into a room. Then she ends it with a “Right?!” Now she doesnt really want anyone elses opinion. She just wants knowing nods and acquiescence.
Dont know what came over me but I had had enough. I unconcealed, drew that Dan Wesson .45 popped it down on the table and said “damn straight!”
Now you have heard people say time stopped and maybe you didnt believe them but I saw it right then and there. I swear not one eye moved from that .45 and not one breath was taken for close to 30 seconds.
I stood up, picked up the .45 and holstered it.Then walked out the door. Man did I get an earful on the ride home. She who must be obeyed was NOT happy. I never said a word on the drive home and nothing was ever said again about gun control.
So worth it!
“Ask him if the government is putting people into concentration camps.”
Likewise, ask him if we Trump supporters should be put into concentration camps.
But be prepared, he’ll have to answer yes.
“She who must be obeyed was NOT happy. “

Syntyr, you must dearly love your bride.
(Seriously)
I think I’d have been laughing and cheering on the way home! My beloved tells me I’m an anomaly, all the time.
Well, until he gets angry and then I’m just like the rest of women.
LOLOL
ick. I have to make my nephews look me in the eye and say “NO POLITICS!!!” because they have a hissy if you don’t see things their way.
and I have an ultra religious niece who’s a NeverTrumper because she does not like his tone.
all over 45, btw.
Remind him that gun laws didn’t save Vince Foster or Jeffrey Epstein.
It was like this in 2000 with Bush and Gore. Clinton, the other Bush and Reagan were subjects of a lot of controversy. It wasn't as intense but it was definitely there. Things were heated in the Johnson and Nixon years, though the divisions weren't as clearly along party lines.
It took Trump being elected to educate die hard republicans that politicians are not conservatives.
But conservatives defended and stuck up for both Bushes. You might think that they were wrong, but they were certainly talking politics back then.
in back pocket now - thanks
The simple answer when he asks “who need assault weapons?” You say “I do. So when you and the rest of your brain washed Communists comrades because you decide that me and my family are no longer needed, I can take you with us!”
What age range is he in?
Marxists are not born that way, but made that way.
Liberation Theology is Not scriptural, either, but beliefs have been shaped. (Can my tag line work, here?)
It’s imho, that Both ideologies become a mental pathology. “Self righteousness” generally accompanies these boobs for BS.
It would be ironic if you shot your cousin with a ‘assault rifle.....
I would have told him that liberalism is an infantile mental disorder.
And to back up his false claims with facts or there’s the door...
early 70’s
So, was he able to give one example of Trump’s racism?
Why anyone subjects themselves to family reunions is beyond me.
No. He shut up and dropped it which I found surprising.
