(Reuters) - U.S. immigration authorities arrested nearly 700 people at seven agricultural processing plants across Mississippi on Wednesday in what federal officials said could be the largest worksite enforcement operation in a single state. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) said in a statement they detained about 680 people who were working illegally at the plants. They said they also seized business records as part of a federal criminal investigation. Some of those detained will be released for humanitarian reasons and required to appear in U.S. immigration court, the U.S. Attorneys Office of the Southern District of Mississippi, which partnered with ICE, said in a statement. Others will be transported to an ICE facility in Jena, Louisiana, it said.

Winning!
It was just an honest mistake to hire them. The employer didn’t know they were illegals.
700 jobs stolen from Americans.
Until employers like this are held *criminally* responsible this won’t stop. Fines are simply the cost of doing business.
No worries.
I’m sure they’ll all be back at work within a week or 10 days...
Are the employers who betrayed American workers going to face any repercussions for their crimes?
Sort of.
You did note that they are turning loose some of them (for humanitarian reasons, whatever that is supposed to mean). Since they don't specify how many, I deduce that it will be a LOT of them.
If it wasn't so sickening I would laugh at this:
Tom Super, spokesman for the National Chicken Council, an industry group, said meat processing companies do their best to hire legal workers.
Yep, of course we understand that a "few" illegals (680) are bound to slip through the cracks.
This jerk ought to be publicly flogged shoveling that BS.
“Humanitarian reasons” probably means that they have kids at home. I’m sure that not many, though./s
I notice that the major brand name companies ARE KEEPING their names out of the MSM.
Lots of advertising $$$ here too.
Is Purdue part of this ? I don’t think I will ever know.
Koch Foods and Peco Foods are two
(not the Koch brothers)
” said meat processing companies do their best to hire legal workers. “
According to S. Connery......something like this......
“Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and ...
If it was in Arkansas I would expect to see the old Clinton cronies (Tyson) in the mix.
If anyone finds accurate information listing of all the companies involved, please post here. We need to get that info to go viral.
It’s only winning if they are deported. Time and time again, Tyson chicken and Smithfield hams have been raided and each time they’re back at work come Monday.
I think those companies should be auctioned off to pay for the costs.
Unfortunately I only read the headline. I later heard a fox news update which said they had been released. Dagnabbit!
If the Feds would start tossing the managers and CEO’s in jail for braking our laws by hiring illegals they would immediately stop the practice
